My lecturing debut

I have a fear of public speaking, a common anxiety I’m sure, characterised by sleepless nights and the frustration of letting nerves overshadow my clarity. Yet we all know that the ability to effectively address an audience presents an advantage in the world of work, when it is necessary to inform others, as well as to aid general confidence and networking skills. So, when I heard about the inaugural student lecture series for Sociology, I thought this would be the ideal opportunity to push myself in at the deep end and give it a go! Bearing in mind the presentation will be on a topic of my choice with focus on issues surrounding my dissertation, it should ease me in gently!

Pop along at 2pm tomorrow (1st June) in W/222 (Wentworth, UoY) to support me in this personal challenge as I share my passion for gender equality in the context of farming.

  1. Congratulations on a marvellous lecture today! It was fascinating to hear about this under-researched yet sociologically fertile area, from someone who is genuinely passionate about it. I really hope that it sparks a surge of interest in the field, which will result in further studies of a similar nature.

  2. Thanks so much for your feedback! I agree, hopefully a domino effect will ensue in terms of more research and more engagement in the sociological issues concerned!
